Goal to Help Retailers and Purchasers

1️⃣ One of my goals with this website is to help retail store owners, managers and purchasers find Canadian-made products by Canadian-owned companies, so that they can stock their shelves with quality products and avoid the counter-tariffs placed on American goods. (NOTE: Though Canada is removing the counter-tariffs, many Canadians will still want to continue buying Canadian-made products and supporting Canadian companies.)

👉 I’d love to have one big database of all the products “Made in Canada”, but I need to start somewhere.

Along with the lists of Canadian-made products, I’ll highlight the brands that create these quality products and how to buy wholesale from the company where applicable.

That way if you’re trying to buy stock for your retail store, you can contact these Canadian companies to buy their products.

Goal to Help Consumers

2️⃣ Another goal of the site is to make it easy for Canadian consumers to find “Made in Canada” or “Product of Canada” items that are made by Canadian-headquartered companies.

When I asked my family and friends what they wanted in a site like this they said they wanted the actual PRODUCTS, and not just the brands.

Plus, they wanted pictures of the products and to know where to find the products.

E-commerce is popular, but many people just want to know what Canadian products they can find at their local retailer or grocery store.

Note about Pack Sizes

Please note that for some of the products on the site may be available in several different pack sizes, but I have just listed the product itself.

Example: Company X’s “Scent Free” shampoo may be available in a 500mL bottle and in a 1000mL bottle, but on the site I have just listed the product as “Scent Free” Shampoo by Company X.

To find out what pack sizes of a product are available I encourage you to click the links to go to the company’s online store.

My Goal with this Site

Hi, my name is Tim and like many other Canadians I’m concerned about our country and economy following the trade war initiated by the USA.

By buying Canadian we’ll help to keep more of our money in Canada.

And though our population is small compared to many other countries…

we still have 40 million people who eat, clean, bathe, etc…

If we support more Canadian companies, hopefully they’ll reach an economy of scale and these advancements – along with innovation – will start to bring down the prices of Canadian-made goods.

Canadian Data

The Canadian government allows businesses to market their items as “Made in Canada” and “Product of Canada” if they meet the requirements, but the government doesn’t require the companies to register their product with any particular directory or database.

🍁 So there isn’t one grand list of all Canadian products marketed as “Made in Canada” or “Product of Canada”.

I think this is a missed opportunity by the Canadian government. But when trade flowed freely between our borders, I guess it isn’t something they really worried about.

Note about the Pictures

I have included photos of the products made by these Canadian companies so you can see what the product packaging and branding look like.

I truly hope that having your products visible on the site will help Canadian retailers and consumers find and buy your products, but I understand if you’d rather not have the pictures visible. Just let me know.
